This mixed sound film includes multiple interviews as well as raw footage related to the construction and dedication of the Astoria-Megler Bridge. Included are interviews with multiple political representatives and state officials discussing the history of bridge, including building consensus about the need to allocate funds to build it, opposition that was encountered along the way, and the potential economic impact of the bridge going forward. The film also includes an interview with a long-time ferry operator discussing his experiences working in the area over many years. Likewise included is footage of various dignitaries speaking at the bridge dedication event, including Oregon Governor Mark Hatfield and Washington Governor Dan Evans. Additional scenes in the film include footage of the bridge under construction, aerial views of the bridge and downtown Astoria, cars paying tolls and crossing the bridge, ferries and ferry operations, and ships passing under the bridge.
