Beyond the Lecture: Applying the Principles of Adult Learning to Parenting Groups

We think to ourselves: If they just had more information, parents could be so much more effective! Yet, despite how many times we tell parents what to do, their behavior does not change! Why is that? In this workshop, we will review the principles of Malcolm Knowles’ adult learning theory and learn Robert Gagne’s nine events of instruction. Participants will generate and share their own examples of effective group activities and facilitation strategies in their work with parents.
