Conrad J. "Bud" Weiser earned a Ph.D. in Horticulture from Oregon State College in 1960, and later served as head of the OSU Horticulture department from 1973-1991, and as Dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences from 1991 to his retirement in 1993.
In this, the second of three interviews, he discusses his return to OSU as a faculty member in 1973; his shift from a teaching/research portfolio to administrative work; his contributions to the creation of the USDA competitive grant program and the National Agricultural Science Team; his establishment of the United Oregon Horticulture Industry Advisory Board, the tri-state cooperative agreement, and the Northwest Center for Small Fruit Research; and the culture of the OSU campus during the Vietnam War era.
