The OSU Beavers posted a season record of 0-11 in head coach Joe Avezzano's first year in charge. The 1980 campaign came to a conclusion at Olympic National Stadium in Tokyo, Japan, where the Beavers lost to UCLA by a score of 34-3 in front of 86,000 fans attending the Mirage Bowl. The defeat secured OSU's first winless season since an 0-2-1 campaign in 1895.
