Jaime Arredondo was born in Los Reyes, Michoacán, Mexico and lived there for part of his childhood before immigrating to Salem, Oregon. He attended Mckay High School and graduated from Willamette University. After graduating, he worked for Farmworker Housing Development Corporation (FHDC) as the Community Organizer and eventually became the Director of Fund Development. He has also been the Secretary-Treasurer of PCUN as well as the Executive Director of Accion Politica PCUNista. He is the founder of the Si Se Puede Higher Education Scholarship Fund. At the time of the interview he was the Executive Director of CAPACES Leadership Institute as well as the Trustee of The Collins Foundation and a member of the advisory committee of the Oregon Community Foundation Latino Partnership Project. Arredondo was also a board member of Ecotrust and the State of Oregon Youth Development Council and the Vice President of the Western Oregon University Board of Trustees.
