Emma Avalos was born in Aguascalientes Mexico. She moved to the United States when she was eleven years old and settled in Los Angeles, California with her family. She attended California State University Dominguez Hills before moving to Eugene, Oregon. At the time of the interview she was the Latinx Student Success Engagement Organizer for Centro Latino Americano.
