Julia Martinez Plancarte was born in Patamban, Michoacán. She lived there for five years before moving to Newberg, Oregon with her family. After graduating from University of Oregon, she worked as the Community Engagement Coordinator for Unidos Bridging Community. At the time of the interview she was the Alianza Poder POF Project Manager for CAPACES Leadership Institute and the Newberg City Councilor for District 2.
