Andrews Forest LTER Science Café on wildfires - reports

During the last several months, we have learned about past, present, and future fire related research at the Andrews Forest and the surrounding landscapes. It has been exciting to see the breadth of interest and expertise in our community. During this science café, we will host several smaller breakout discussions about the current and future role of the Andrews Forest in understanding the roles and consequences of fire in the western Cascades, including diverse perspectives from social, humanities, biophysical, and traditional knowledge perspectives. Specifically, breakout room discussions will focus on four topics:

• Ecosystem, community, and hydrologic recovery in the experimental watersheds: Where to after the Holiday Farm Fire?
• LTER research, forest management, and fire.
• Ecological legacies in the Andrews Forest and surrounding landscapes: Invisible present and past.
• Living with future fires at the Andrews Forest.
