Before
taking this class, I never really thought about racial identity as something
that develops throughout our lives. I recently completed implicit bias training
at work, and it made me realize that many of the beliefs we hold are shaped by
our families, communities, and experiences from a very young age. Tatum
explains that racial identity continues to develop through childhood,
adolescence, and adulthood. How can we encourage
people to continue examining and developing their understanding of race as
adults, especially if they were raised with beliefs that were rarely
questioned?
