This film consists primarily of dramatized demonstrations of three types of civil defense activities across the state of Oregon. In one scene, volunteers with the Civil Air Patrol assist with the fighting of a fire in a wheat field near Condon, Oregon. In a second scene, a Baker County resident describes the exterior construction and interior outfitting - including water, dehydrated food, gas masks and geiger counters - of a fallout shelter built on his ranch. In the third scene, the Benton County sheriff's office and civil defense volunteers use handheld radio communications to coordinate the search for a child lost in the woods near Philomath, Oregon.
Digitized from a film reel labeled "Rural Emergency Planning" and held in the Extension and Experiment Station Communications Moving Images (FV 120:393), Special Collections and Archives Research Center, Oregon State University Libraries.
