Marlan Carlson was a professor of music at Oregon State University from 1969-2023, serving as department chair from 1993-2010. Carlson has also led the Corvallis-OSU Symphony Orchestra since 1985. In this interview (2 of 4), Carlson discusses meeting his wife Angela; their experiences living in England and Germany; their introduction to Corvallis and decision to establish roots at Oregon State University; their contributions to building a culture of music at OSU in the 1970s; Marlan's passion for foreign languages; and his experience of earning tenure at Oregon State.
