Francois Gilfillan graduated from OAC in 1918 with a degree in Pharmacy. He returned to Corvallis in 1927 to begin a long career on faculty, working variously as chemistry professor, Dean of Science, languages professor and, from 1941-1942, acting president of Oregon State College. He retired in 1968. Violette Gilfillan was Francois Gilfillan's wife of fifty-five years.
