Sam Stern was a faculty member in the College of Education at Oregon State University from 1981-2016, serving as dean of the Education unit from 2002-2011. In this interview, Stern reflects on his career trajectory, which included eight years as a junior high school teacher; his research on technical training and corporate creativity in Japan; and his tenure as dean, including the role that he played in the preservation and renovation of Furman Hall.
