Bill Reed, Co-Founder of Elite Care's Oatfield Estates, a residential care facility south of Portland, Oregon that is world-renowned for its use of technology to empower residents and connect family members discusses the social metrics that they use to track their residents' well-being. Bill Reedand his wife Lydia Lundberg designed, constructed, and currently manage Elite Care's Oatfield Estates and Fanno Creek, residential care communities. As part of their vision to build a place where they would want to live, Bill and Lydia designed and implemented a software system software solution that collects and distributes behavioral, health, and social data to empower residents, connect family members, and facilitate their communities' relationship-based model of care. Bill Reed and Lydia Lundberg have received international recognition for their use of technology and innovative design. They were awarded the Computerworld Honors Program 21st Century Achievement Awards in 2001, have presented before the Senate Special Committee on Aging, at the White House Conference on Aging, and before the United Nations to promote the importance of being open to new technologies to assist in caring for the coming changes in demographics.
