Caroline Wilkins served as vice-chair of the Democratic Party of Oregon from 1968-1974, and as vice-chair of the Democratic National Committee from 1972-1977. Married to Bill Wilkins, an Oregon State University economist and Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Caroline Wilkins also served administrator of the Oregon Consumer Services Division from 1977-1981 before launching a consulting firm, Wilkins Associates, that operated until her retirement in 2012. In this interview, Wilkins comments on her upbringing and education in Texas and Mexico, her connections with Oregon State University - including serving as perhaps the first female faculty member in OSU's History department - and her influential career in politics.
