Potato harvesting is what begins this video, then it later switches to two young boys harvesting Japanese squash. These are Walser’s sons and he credits them as his utmost reason as why he chooses to organically farm. Walser was uncomfortable with keeping chemicals around his children. He later discusses his methods of crop rotation, weed management, and pest management. For Walser, organic farming is about thinking of long term perspectives rather than quick fixes (such as pesticides for weed management).
Digitized from a Umatic original held in the Oregon Tilth Records (MSS OrTilth), Special Collections and Archives Research Center, Oregon State University Libraries. Tape is labeled "Steve Walsers Farm 3."
