Oregon State won this edition of the Civil War football rivalry by a significant margin, defeating the Ducks by a score of 45-24. The Beavers were led by sophomore quarterback Derek Anderson, who threw for 370 yards and four touchdowns, and also by running back Steven Jackson, who ran for 153 yards and two scores. The Beavers finished the season with a record of 8-5, losing to Pittsburgh in the Insight Bowl on December 26, 2002.
