The 1998-99 Beaver basketball team compiled a season record of 13-14 overall, and 7-11 in conference. Three of the team's conference wins were over top 10 teams: a 65-63 win over #8 UCLA, a 60-59 win over #9 Arizona and, to conclude the year, a 59-45 win over #6 Stanford. The team was led on the court by three sophomores: guards Deaundra Tanner (the Beavers' leading scorer at 15.8 points per game) and Josh Steinthal, and center Jason Heide.
