The Beavers entered this contest, their second ever Rose Bowl appearance, with a season record of 7-2-1 and a #10 national ranking. Led on the field by running backs Joe Francis and Earnel Durden, as well as All American tackle John Witte, OSC was coached by Tommy Prothro, who was in his second year at the helm. Oregon State lost the Rose Bowl game to third-ranked Iowa by a score of 35-19.
This silent color film was produced by the State University of Iowa Athletic Department and reflects both the prelude to the game and its conclusion from the Iowa point of view. The footage was migrated from a Beta tape held in the KEZI Sports Videotapes Collection (FV329:003), Special Collections and Archives Research Center, Oregon State University Libraries.
