Jack Barth, professor in the College of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, describes how underwater gliders are revealing new details about the Pacific Ocean. By collecting data 24/7 along predetermined tracks, the gliders give scientists unprecedented views of ocean processes during storms and other times when ships and satellites are ineffective.
